New features offered for 2016 Frozen Foot Race 5K Series
Applied Race Management Solutions’ signature event — the Frozen Foot 5K Race Series — is offering some new features for 2016. The races are scheduled for Jan. 17, Feb. 21 and March 20.
For the first time in its 27-year history, the Frozen Foot is offering runners a chance to get in shape for the first race through a Couch to 5K program. Elizabethtown Area Middle School cross country coach Jeff McCloud will coach the Couch to 5K participants. Runners also will be able to sign up for a cyber run, meaning they can participate in the races wherever and whenever, even on their treadmill.
Register for the Couch to 5K and the cyber run here.
The Frozen Foot Couch to 5K program will start on Nov. 15 and last 9 weeks, culminating with the first Frozen Foot race on Jan. 17. The program will help new runners and those getting started again by running and walking, gradually increasing the time running and decreasing the time walking. Participants should be committed to 3 workouts each week. They will receive an email at the beginning of each week with an outline of their 3 workouts.
The cost for the Frozen Foot Couch to 5K program is $100, which includes registrations to all three races, 9 weeks of coaching from McCloud (which will include email encouragement and one in-person run per week on Saturdays) and a 25 percent discount to join the Elizabethtown Running Club through September 2016.
For those that can’t attend the races but still want to participate in the Series, they can attend register for the cyber race. It works like this: You run on your time and your schedule, on any 5K route you want, even indoors on a treadmill. Then you send ARMS your results by each race date. The cyber run results will be posted for those participants, who will receive a custom shirt and a finisher’s medal.
