News & Updates
Hello running enthusiasts!
My name is Christina Bosserman – I’m in the early planning stages for our annual sports camp at New Hope Church in Lower Paxton Township. We organize a fun week long evening sports camp every summer for kids kindergarten – 6th grade. We give the kids a choice of sports to participate in, along with organized group time and healthy snacks. It is a lot of fun, and last year we had a great turnout for a running camp. Brandi Berwager gave leadership to the skills portion, but since she no longer lives in the area I’m checking in with you to see if I could find some skills leadership. It will run Sunday July 12 – Thursday July 16 from 6-8pm. There is about 1:15 minutes of skills instruction each night. I’m sure Brandi would be happy to pass on what she did with the kids each night and could get you in touch with her if you don’t already have her e-mail.
We are offering t-shirts this year with logos of local organizations that are contributing to the camp on the back, and we would include your organization on the t-shirt and display any literature about your organization for the parents to browse before and after the camp. If that sounds like it would benefit your organization, or if you are interested in continuing the excitement for running that was generated last summer let me know! Brandi even got a little publicity online last year!
Lindsay Leigh, MS, CSCS, and Ironman triathlete, will discuss the ins and outs of sports nutrition for runners and triathletes, including basic strategies for healthy eating to support an athlete’s training, as well as tried and true tips for pre-exercisemeals, training and racing fueling, and recovery nutrition.
