38th annual Twilight Trot continues as a cyber race
For many runners in the area, the Twilight Trot 10K has been a long-standing tradition every August. This year brought a number of changes for the 38th annual race, which included Applied Race Management Solutions taking over all aspects of the race from the Greater Elizabethtown Area Recreation and Community Services (GEARS). GEARS hadorganized, planned and directed the race on the roads at Masonic Village for many years.
When ARMS took it over, the intent was to move the race back to its original course, starting and ending at the Elizabethtown Area High School. But time ran out to gain approval from the state to use East High Street, which is a state-owned road, for the race. Rather than try to rush approval, and not hold a good event, we made the decision to conduct the Twilight Trot as a cyber race for 2015 that will support Relay for Life. You can register for the race here. The cost is $20.
Here’s how a cyber race works:
For the Twilight Trot, you register for the race and then you can run whenever or wherever you want until Saturday, Oct. 31. You can log a 10K route that you always run, or run the old TT route at Masonic Village. You can even log the miles on your treadmill. If you walk, crawl or even moonwalk, that counts. After you’ve completed the distance, send your time to racedirector@appliedracemgmt.com. Results must be sent by 11:59 p.m. on Oct. 31.
For your $20 registration, you will get the following: a custom bib number, a custom finisher’s medal and $5 off any 2016 Applied Race Management race. Your submitted run/walk times will be posted on the race results page. You get the motivation to go for a run or walk and some swag — and also get to help us help others.
